The Pink Dolphin is endangered, because of humans, who are destroying the South American Tropical Rainforest. They are also dumping chemicals in the rivers and another reason is that the dolphins are getting trapped in fishnets accidentally. The reasons that these pink dolphins are endangered is because of pollution of the sea, over fishing & illegal hunting. The pink dolphins, or Boto is of five species of river dolphins that are practically extinct declining at 10% every year. The pink river dolphin has lived in the Amazon River and in the streams and main rivers of the Orinoco River systems for centuries.  However, there are many more causes to why the pink river dolphin is on the verge of extinction. Humans are the numeber one reason for the declining of the Pink Dolphin. The Boto has lived in harmony with the people of the Amazon for centuries but urban development, economic changes, water pollution and environmental pollution created by us has caused this amazing creature to be poisoned and killed. The second cause of the declining of the Boto is that of humans using dolphin fins for fish bait. Coming from Colombia down to the Amazon these techniques involve using the  pink dolphins flesh for bait for fishing. Aonther reason is the contamination of rivers from gold mines. The gold mines have mercury which runs into the waters and contaminate the it leaving river dlophins dead from poisoning. By destroying a Boto habitat, the rainforest, you are getting them closer to extinction because they have no where to after that because the river flow has stopped. There are many reasons to the extinction of the Pink Dolphin or Boto but they are different enviormentalists programs you can join to be apart of the journey to stop the dolphins road to extinction.
